Review Love Lessons by Evelyn David. Ms. Evelyn David, asked me to read her newest book, Love Lessons and if I enjoyed it, perhaps I would venture to write a small review about it." Well, I read it, based upon the excellence of her former books and because she ventured out into a new, for her, genre of the light Romance. And I loved it! As I opened the book, I read the chapter titles and thought, "Oh good, an anthology which makes reading so easy and picks the pace based on the reader's interest and life's interruptions. Which, in my case, ended up being read in one sitting and sipping a can of diet soda. Why did I just mention 'life's interruptions?' It is because this charming book is about being reminded that love can be found everywhere from a plumbing emergency to a caring grocery clerk. We get gently reminded that many times we forget that we have already found love whether in the throes of a vicious tornado or worries about a future empty nest scenario. Then there are those occasions when love surprises us like outside a bank, (my personal favorite,) or even when a person's eyesight is clouded. This book is written simply with great elegance of words and my only complaint and the reason for 4 stars versus 5 is I wanted more. I felt the taste for the book to continue and in the case of some of the short stories, perhaps made into their own novels. This is a book to give to your partner, lover, gal-friend at anytime of the year but would be a delightful holiday gift. Go read and Enjoy! I will again and again. Jeannie Rigod Nice, CA |
